Most people when they go for a picnic in the park opt for a simple sandwich, avoiding the need for any cutlery. Not so Medium star Patricia Arquette, who obviously likes to make eating out a real performance. In fact, it was an impressive piece of education for her seven-year-old daughter Harlow as she enjoyed a Chinese meal complete with chopsticks.

The 42-year-old star was spotted giving the challenging culinary lesson in Cross Creek, Malibu. And the little girl obviously loved every minute of it. Patricia's husband, actor Thomas Jane, was not there to enjoy the outing perhaps as he is currently promoting season two of his hit comedy drama Hung.

The couple have been going through difficult times recently, with Arquette filing for divorce last year, stating irreconcilable differences. But the pair have agreed to give the marriage a second try. Like chopsticks, tricky to start with but worth sticking at...

In this video, a blushing Patricia Arquette talks about how Mr. Teen Hearthrob, Robert Pattinson, used to have a crush on her. It’s funny and kind of cute when celebs talk about people who crush on them, especially when the crusher is another star.

PRESENT TENTS: American actress Patricia Arquette flew from Haiti recently to lunch on David Cubitt and wife Julia Molnar's tented Shaughnessy lawn. Cubitt has played opposite Arquette for six years on the supernatural-drama TV series Medium. Molnar owns the Isola Bella children's clothing store here.

Arquette's focus is to provide clean, safe, sustainable communities for children and families enduring harsh conditions in Haiti's post-earthquake tent camps. Her Give Love Foundation ( www.givelove.org)urges friends, colleagues, politicians, scientists and others to fund container homes, sanitation facilities, gardens and practical fuels. Lunch over, donor-guests strolled indoors to hear Spirit of The West singer John Mann's "unplugged" recital in the Cubitt-Molnar living room.

Coral Gables When she returned from a two-week trip to Haiti last week, actress Patricia Arquette attended a cocktail reception at the home of Coral Gables residents Ben and Jennie Lou Reid, to raise money for the Give Love Foundation.

The Emmy Award-winning actress and star of Medium on CBS founded Give Love to implement a methodical pilot project that will develop and evaluate sustainable, low-cost building technologies, green fuel and sanitation systems, and other long-term living solutions for displaced communities in Haiti.

Patricia Arquette wasn't overjoyed when she found out her CBS hit show Medium was renewed for another season (its seventh). The reason: The 42-year-old actress was in Haiti, helping displaced earthquake victims. ``[Producers] called me to tell me we were just picked up and I didn't know what was happening,'' Arquette said at a fundraiser at a private home in Coral Gables. ``There were kids running around with no shoes in broken glass and broken metal. The toilets were full. There are sanitary issues. I said, `I can't even talk to you about that. I'm in a whole other world.' ''

Indeed, Arquette's bizarro glamorous Hollywood life definitely went on the back burner for 12 days earlier this month when the actress, who has starred in such movies as Flirting with Disaster, Beyond Rangoon and True Romance, traveled to the ravaged island nation. Her goal, along with the Give Love Foundation (which she founded), is helping to resettle homeless families. Earlier in the day, Arquette visited the Robert Morgan Educational Center in South Miami to check in with welding students who are building the doors and roofing trusses for quake victims' new homes. Fifty-four housing structures are set for a one-acre site in Cité Soleil, a volatile area in Port-au-Prince.

Medium will still air on Fridays, but has been moved to 8:00. I'm not sure if it's a good move though.
